Luxembourg has renegociated its double tax treaty with the USA

On April 28, Mr Luc Frieden, the treasury minister, announced that Luxembourg had reached an agreement with the USA aiming at modifying the Double Tax Treaty (signed on April 3, 1996), after hectic negotiations in Washington.

This agreement will allow for exchange of information between the tax authorities upon request and regarding specific cases.

The agreement is the first to be concluded since Luxembourg announced it would implement OECD standards of information exchange on March 13, 2009. The accord will be signed in the coming days, as soon as the USA have completed certain formalities.
